Family life isn’t always easy

I have a particular interest in working with family issues, and especially with parents who are experiencing difficulties relating to children or family life in general.

Difficulties can arise at any stage of family life and there are many different reasons for this, including:

  • Relationship difficulties / divorce

  • Coping with postnatal depression / adjusting to becoming a parent

  • Disagreements or difficulties with family members such as parents, siblings

  • Caring for a child who is neurodivergent or who has behavioural / emotional difficulties

  • Experiencing conflict with a teen or adult child

  • Bereavement

  • An experience or trauma in a parent’s own life, or a parent experiencing anxiety, depression, or other mental health issues

  • Adjusting to a big change in your family, such as children leaving home

All of these situations - and others - can feel overwhelming and isolating, particularly when you feel that you should be the “adult”.

Counselling offers a space for you to speak freely in a way that you might not feel able to with friends or family.

If you would like support in your role as a parent, please contact me to find out more. Sessions can be online or in person.

I have written an article about how counselling can help parents below:
